Once upon a four year ago lifetime I was a tired mama with a four year old and a two year old trying to enrich their life with activities and sports. • Only problem we couldn't afford it. Like at all. My sweet granma helped us put Hailee through and once summer hit we took a "break." And never went back. • Hailee missed it and would ask when she coule start again. We plugged her into karate but she kept asking. She would read about gymnastics and Gabby Douglas. She watched youtube how tos and old Olympic games. She was hungry. Bout broke my heart to not be able to say yes. • One if my reasons for working on my business is to be able to say yes to things like gymnastics. This year we could do that. And for not one but two little learners. • I can't tell you how thankful I am to be getting a paycheck for something I love and would share no matter what. • I'm sharing this because we shouldn't be down on things we don't have yet. Pray, and keep working toward that thing you would love to do or that blessing you want to give. Not everything that counts should be counted. EVERY single time that I get to this point (pictured above ) along my running track, I break out into a big goofy grin. The endorphins from running and the joy of listening to upbeat music combined with the beauty of Brisbane’s river at Sunset has me absolutely bursting with gratitude. I first started running during a difficult time in my life when I felt unlike my usual happy self and was unable to unwind at night. Running became many things for me but counting calories or kilometres wasn’t one of them. I’d run for as long as I felt I needed to or as far as felt good to me. A few years later, after having commenced Crossfit, I realised during a workout (a 5km time trial ) that I had lost my love for running. In fact, I loathed it. At the time, I put this down to a number of performance-related factors: I had lost endurance but gained strength, I had increased fast-twitch and decreased slow-twitch muscle fibres, so on and so forth. It was only when I impulsively decided to go for a run along the river one day in place of my usual Crossfit workout that I realised what had happened to my love for running; it had been destroyed by the stopwatch. You see, without someone timing my run, a pack of runners to keep up with (or beat ), and/or performance expectations to live up to, I was once again free to focus on the scenery around me, the music in my ears and the sensation of my feet pounding the pavement. I set a pace that was comfortable and enjoyable. And the demanding voice in my head disappeared once again. This was a powerful realisation: I didn’t hate running, I hated running against the clock. Today, I enjoy running again. I run as far and as fast as feels good to me. No pedometer, no stopwatch, no expectations. If you find yourself loathing running (or exercise in general ), I urge you to examine your motives for exercise and your attitude towards it. #running #joyfulmovement #runnershigh #exercisephysiology

(New blog post )✨ When I took my first yoga class a few years ago in college (ok, 5+ years ago 🙄 ), and started to go more frequently, they often talked about mindfulness 🧘♀️ Being in the present. Feeling what you feel and just sitting with it ☺️ Not being judgmental of yourself, and trying to sit through discomfort👇🏼⠀ ...⠀ So how does yoga compare to food you ask? Good question. Same concepts, different context👇🏼⠀ ...⠀ Mindful eating can be: eating slowly + without distraction, using the hunger scale, or saying "no thank you" to offers of more food 🍏⠀ ...⠀ Mindful eating can also be: eating in your car on the way to work, or eating when you aren’t hungry to avoid being hangry later, or eating something that doesn’t taste the best because you know you need to eat 😊 And ya know what? That’s fine. Why?👇🏼⠀ ...⠀ Food doesn’t need to be the main focus in life 🌎 There are many other things that are more important. Brb, having a quick love affair with sunset runs 🌅 . . Running for me is truly something that fills up my cup. Taking a break was something my body needed, but after a while the limit I set up for myself to NOT run became more stressful than just setting off for a few minutes of me-time. ❌ I took that as a sign from my body that it was ok to run if I felt like it! . . I love running when it feels like it’s just me and the city. Stealing views like this and working out all the chaos that can build up in my mind over time. . . 🏃🏼♀️when it comes to exercise, variety is the spice of life, rest is an equal part of the equation, and the motivation to move should always be about building you up, not breaking you down. 🧘🏼♀️ . . No, I still haven’t gotten a normal period 💌 but I no longer want to let that rule my life. I know it will come back some day as I continue to trust my body. 🤸🏼♀️ I am going to seek joy and tune in to stress and for me that means including mindful exercise, skipping workouts when I’m not feeling it, and prioritizing sleep 💤 . . YOOOOO. How have I NEVER noticed the parable of the growing seed before in the book of Mark?! God spoke to me HARD this morning and it was such truth that I needed to share. I encourage you to open your bible to Mark 4:26-29 (quick read! ) and then meet me back here! • • To sum it up, Jesus tells of a man who scatters seed on the ground and then basically lets nature take its course. As the man who sowed the seed goes about his business day after day, he finds the seed begins to have an affect. The sprouts come, then the stalk, then leaves, then head of grain, etc. Jesus emphasizes how all this happens WITHOUT the man’s help. Quite honestly, it seems like the man is shocked at how all this happens without much of his intervention. Verse 28 says, “All by itself the soil produces.” • • OKAY. Stay with me, this is powerful! This parable ends with a HARVEST. Now Jesus didn’t spend time explaining this parable like He did others so here is how I personally understand it. The crop can and does grow without the farmers intervention which teaches me that God can do ANYTHING even when we are unaware of what He is doing. In God’s timing, the Word brings forth its fruit and then God is glorified. • • So what does that have to do with us? Everything. As Michelle Myers reminds us, stop striving and start surrendering. God can do more in your waiting than you can do in your doing. All we can do is be FAITHFUL in sowing the seeds friends and pray for a harvest but the outcome is up to GOD. Whether that be your businesses, desire for a family, discipling others, or mentoring your own children. Can I get a huge AMEN this morning?! I am just so thankful for God’s word on this beautiful Friday!

#Repost @prettylittlegrub ・・・ I'm often asked how I stay motivated to workout while I travel. ✈️ The key is I workout from a place of joy 🤗, not punishment😫. I don't workout to burn off what I ate, to look a certain way or lose weight. I'm excited to run because I get to explore amazing scenery ( I mean how amazing does today's run look! ) 🏃♀️ After a long day or travel or when I'm feeling grumpy I jump on my yoga mat to stretch out and reconnect. 😌 I love the buzz I get after pushing myself in a high intensity workout.💪 When you exercise for the right reasons, it doesn't require finding motivation anymore. It's something you want to do, not something you have to do.
Remember that "Joy List" you made yesterday? The list of things that warm you and light you up? That make you feel like you could take on the world? Rather than using it only for times when you need a boost or are feeling down, take it out now and ask yourself how many of those things you have in your life on a regular basis. How joyful is your everyday life?! ::: Take out another piece of paper or your journal and jot down what it is you spend most of your time on each day. ::: Done? Great. Now compare the two lists. And notice if there's anything on the "every day list" that really doesn't feel good to you and you could get away with either not doing or asking someone else to help with. Are there things on your "joy list" that could replace these things?! How could you add more joy into each day? ::: It's about priorities. It's about creating the life we want. And it starts with adding in the things we love and enJOY the most. That's how we get to where we want to be. That's how we wake up one day and are living a life we love. It’s a day filled with CEU trainings outside the home and I could have skipped my morning routine all together but I didn’t!!! I chose to go to bed at 815 last night ( #grandma ) and woke up at 430 to sit at the feet of Jesus and then get my sweat session in. Now I’m ready to tackle this long day with energy and JOY. • • What are your no matter whats? A hard work out is a bit easier when you’ve got a friend with you cheering you on! Two are better than one and that holds true, even during workouts !! But by far my favorite part of the morning was ending our time together catching up on what God is teaching us in this season of our lives and lifting each other up in prayer. WTF Wednesday: it doesn't get light until 8.30ish and is dark again around 16.30ish. With lots of grey in between. Was scrolling through travel pics and this one was so uplifting. #TransparentTuesday : This is a photo of me preparing to nap earlier today. I haven’t been to the gym or completed a conventional strength training workout in at least 21 days. It’s been so long that I can’t remember the last date I *did* go to the gym, so I can’t give an exact number. • A break this long is pretty unusual for me, but between my trapeze performance, then Thanksgiving, now nursing biceps tendinitis, and the insanity that is the back end of my business right now, it makes a lot of sense that the gym has taken a backseat. • I'm doing my best to not be hard on myself about this and to just take it day by day. I'll be back in the gym soon (likely tomorrow, in fact ). And I've been continuing to move with a weekly trapeze class, dog walks, and the occasional hike. • The truth is, our movement practices fluctuate as our lives fluctuate. I know what an *ideal* week looks like for me right now as it pertains to exercise, but that only comes to fruition when everything else in my life is going as it should (and as an entrepreneur, let's be real, that's not that often anymore ). ••• Plus, with the addition of trapeze into my life, I'm just not strength training as much as I used to because I want to devote more time to being on the bar than lifting a barbell right now. And that's okay, too. • The cool thing about this body that I call home is that I get to decide how I want to move it any given day or week or month. And sometimes that's pumping a lot of iron. Sometimes that's climbing up a wall. Sometimes it's flying high on the trapeze. Other times it's resting, or gentle stretching, or walking, or anything else I might want. • What's most important to me is that I can continue to move throughout my life. And yes, that means that I need to strength train to keep my bones dense and my heart strong. It means that I need to do mobility drills so that my body continues to function at the optimal level. It means doing shit that is hard and boring sometimes. • Do you know how to listen to your body and what it wants in any given day? Do you know the different ways you can move to live your best life? If not, I'd love to help you find out.

Are you?👇🏽 The parable of the sower is one of those parables you can read every day for 30 days and gain something new from it. So many heart checks. As I was creating content for our upcoming coach team call, this is the passage I have been digging into. Yes, Jesus shows up often as we work our businesses because it’s all FOR Him. So here is the question I am asking myself this morning: • • When the heat and the trials come, do I stand firm—rooted in faith— or am I quick to get burned and wither away? You see, following Jesus cannot be only an emotional commitment. Emotions are EASILY swayed by circumstances. You may be on that Jesus high but are you ROOTED? Is your commitment and submission grounded with head, heart and spirit? Is it grounded in truth? Is it being nurtured every day? Are you watering your Spirit field? • • Friends, we should NOT be surprised when the sun, heat, and trials come because they WILL. Let us stand firm on the true foundation that has already been laid—Jesus.
