#StudyTip : How to create a study plan that works for you! Have you tried and failed a study plan? Every year students try to become more organised and effective with their studies by creating rigid study plans which never seem to work as they're unrealistic! To improve with your study plans, you'll need to: 1. Create a daily to-do list using a journal/diary - This will help you identify all your outstanding tasks. 2. Manage your time more effectively by prioritising your tasks using a Priority Matrix. For example, - Table 1 could be the tasks that are important and urgent; - Table 2 could contain tasks that are important but not urgent; - Table 3 could be tasks that aren't important but are urgent, and - Table 4 could have not important and not urgent tasks which could be completed at any time. 3. Establish a weekly rhythm to get ahead! Expecting different results by doing the same thing is illogical. Once you are on top of your school tasks, then you may want to consider undertaking any additional task that will specifically address your knowledge and skill gap by introducing them into your weekly routine.

#FAQ : How many students are in each class? In order to allow teachers to spend more time on each individual student, class sizes are maintained at 10-15 students per class on average. However, students also need to ask questions so that teachers are aware of any problems. The key to learning is asking when you're unsure, there's no such thing as a silly question! The subjects offered in the Regular Course include: • English - This will develop the student's reading comprehension skills, vocabulary and grammar skills which also plays an important role in many other subjects. • Mathematics - Starting from basic math, this course works to challenge levels of problem-solving. • General Ability - This will improve the student's ability to reason logically. • Writing Skills - This is an essential part of studying the English Language, which gives a student confidence in their writing and general communication skills. We know the yearly exams we all dread are coming soon! But it's important to take a break! Information overload isn't good for retention. Like your body, your brain needs down time too. Find adequate time for your body and mind to relax over these next few weeks leading up to the exams. They need to be refreshed and ready to go, and not burnt out.
Dark chocolate is good for you! ; ) Firstly, it contains a small amount of caffeine, which has been proven to heighten mental alertness. Dark chocolate contains magnesium, which helps you de-stress, and it also stimulates the release of endorphins and serotonin, which make you feel good and heighten your mood. As a result, this can significantly boost your focus!

Only got that one last #HSC exam to do? Not feeling motivated? . . Turn on some tunes 🎶🎧 Music is a simple way to stir your motivation, as it elicits positive emotions. If chosen wisely, a song can get you powerfully motivated to study; it can cause a spirit of optimism which evokes the epic feeling of being able to do anything. Don't play heavy or upbeat music, opt for something more relaxing and suited for lounging around. The soft nature of the sounds will help you learn and retain information. #JamesAnCollegePenrith

#QuickTip : A lack of #water = lack of brain power . . We're heading towards the end of the second week of the #HSC ! Keep hydrated throughout your #exams , as studies show that mild dehydration has a negative effect on the brain's performance. If you're sufficiently hydrated, it will improve your brain's ability to complete tasks that require a rapid response (eg. multiple choice ).
Need that extra boost to get you over the line in the #HSC ? . . Fish oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids that improve your memory and mental stimulation! If you're lacking concentration, it might be worth a try - it could be the difference between a band 5 & a band 6!

The #HSC is just days away! . . Make sure you don't cram! Cramming can potentially cause you to lose your understanding of certain concepts. You're essentially forcing your brain to quickly learn a large amount of theory in a short period of time, which is a strenuous task. It's similar to trying to squash more items into a box that is already filled, something has got to give!
Time management is #key to ensure you're able to perform at maximum capacity in your #HSC exams! . . Try to be ready for your exam 15 mins prior to its starting time! - this gives your mind time to relax. The last thing you want is to be stressed before your exams!
The first of the cab off the rank is #English ! . . We know you probably have a series of perfected essays, but make sure you're able to adapt them to answer the #exam questions. Remember to address the concept, outline techniques used, include examples and be able to link your point back to the question.
