The Story Behind The Picture (@marceltravelphotography) 5 weeks ago

The "Torre del Oro" (Tower of Gold ) in Seville was built just after 1200 by the Almohad Caliphate. The name of the dodecagonal (12 edges and vertices ) military watchtower comes from the golden shine it projects on the Guadalquivir river. The tower served as a prison in the Middle Ages. The small tower on top was added in 1769. . . . #torredeloro #torredelorosevilla #seville #sevilla #ok_spain #livelovespain #loves_spain #loves_united_spain #loves_united_castle #manor_n_castle #viculis_incastrum #castellidelmondo #castelli_in #castles_oftheworld #total_andalucia #medievalworld #monumental_world #ig_monumentalworld #total_monuments #ig_spain #igersspain #monumentalspain #citybestpics #citybestviews #castles_fortresses_and_palaces #superb_travelpics #traveller_stories #addicted_to_facades #fiftyshades_of_history #total_sevilla
